How to describe a lawn mowing job
Use this lawn mowing checklist and example to explain the work, access and timing when contacting a provider directly.
A clear job description helps a provider understand what you are asking for. You do not need exact measurements: label estimates and say when something is unknown.
List the areas
Name each area separately and give an approximate size if you know it. Explain whether you want all areas done on the same visit.
Describe the current condition
Mention long grass, obstacles, slopes and difficult access. Do not enter an unsafe area just to collect measurements or photographs.
Separate the tasks
List mowing, edging, trimming and clipping removal separately. Ask which tasks are included rather than assuming they come together.
Explain access safely
Describe gates, passages and steps without publishing security codes or details about when a property is empty. Share necessary access arrangements directly with the provider after confirming the work.
Give a timeframe
Say whether this is a one-off job or a request for recurring work, and provide your preferred timing. Ask the provider to confirm availability.
Example description
The property is in a Brisbane suburb; I can provide the suburb and postcode directly. The front and back lawns need mowing; I do not know the exact size. The back lawn is longer and access is through a narrow side gate. Please explain whether edging and clipping removal are included. I would prefer a one-off visit next week, subject to your availability.
Before contacting a provider
Check that your description separates confirmed facts from estimates. Leave out payment information, identity documents and security codes. This checklist is for your own use; LocalQuote does not collect it.
